Public Transport

In Amsterdam, you can easily get anywhere by public transport. A 3-minute walk takes you to Overamstel metro station. From there, you can take metro 50 and 51 to a.o.

  • Central Station, 14 minutes, metro 51
  • RAI Amsterdam, 3 minutes, metro 50 & metro 51
  • Dam Square (centre of Amsterdam), 9 minutes, metro 51
  • Schiphol, 12 minutes (incl. transfer to train), metro 50 & metro 51 to Station Zuid

To pay for public transport, you can:

  1. Koop een kaartje bij het instappen.
Maar makkelijker, sneller en (met een paar ritten) ook goedkoper is met de OV-chipkaart.
  2. OV-chipkaart, the official OV card valid throughout the Netherlands. You buy a blank / anonymous chip card for €7.50 that you can top up with your bank card or credit card, no cash. You then check in and out yourself when getting on and off the train and pay only for the distance travelled.

Above are links to a handy website for planning your trip, more information about the OV-chipkaart and the location of Amsterdam Central Station, the city's main transport hub.
